COLD CASE
by J. M. Hartwig

Detective Inspector Jaine Rhodes is frustrated with her life. Dominated by the obnoxious attitude of her fifteen-year-old son and unsatisfactory relationships, she questions where she went wrong. Jaine retreats into her job with the Metropolitan Police’s Unsolved Crime and Cold Case Unit. She’s tasked to track down a serial rapist who’s left a string of broken women behind him. The investigation is challenging and demands everything Jaine has learned during her eighteen-year career in the Met.
A chance meeting with Lieutenant Commander Tom Grifford changes her life in the blink of an eye. Tom is everything she’s ever wanted in a man, but demanding careers mean their relationship won't be easy.

When Jaine is the victim of a violent assault, she moves to Portsmouth to be with Tom and transfers to  Hampshire Constabulary’s Cold Case Unit. She thought she had left the serial rapist investigation behind, but Hampshire also has cases in their files. Then Jaine discovers another cold case that hits close to home. Finding evidence linking the two investigations puts Jaine on a collision course with the Royal Navy and leads to a confrontation with a serial rapist pursuing one last victim.

STORM SHOT
by J. M. Hartwig

It’s two o’clock in the morning in the Arabian Gulf. Tom Grifford, commander of the Royal Navy frigate HMS Carlisle, receives a phone call telling him his wife Jaine has been abducted.
Tom surrenders command of Carlisle and returns home. He finds his family in an uproar and a police investigation led by a detective with a personal agenda who refuses to examine the evidence that could identify the prime suspect.
Tom knows that the longer it takes to find Jaine, the greater the chance that she will never be found. He begins his own investigation in a desperate and fearful search that takes him inside the criminal mind of his wife’s abductor. Forced to draw on every ounce of his self-belief, seaman’s skills and experience as a Royal Navy officer, Tom’s search takes him on a terrifying journey to a storm-ravaged corner of the North Atlantic Ocean ...
